Product Description |
| Bring your Sirius satellite radio receiver to life with this essential plug 'n' play boombox. Compatible with the Sirius Sportster 3, Sportster 4, Starmate 3, Starmate 4, and Stratus receivers, the boombox lets you follow the game or rock out on the patio to any of Sirius's high-quality digital streams. Simply plug your Sirius receiver into the boombox's universal docking cradle and you're set. Listeners will love the SUB-X1's rich, crisp sound, which employs two tweeters, two midrange drivers, and a powerful subwoofer to create a dynamic frequency response of 70 Hz to 20 kHz. The reception is also topnotch thanks to the included indoor/outdoor antenna, which comes with an attached 19.5-foot cable (the antenna must have a relatively clear view of the Sirius satellite paths to work). Most importantly, the boombox is fully portable, with a built-in handle for transport and a battery power option (the boombox runs for up to nine hours on eight D-cell batteries). And you needn't worry about hauling the antenna along in a separate bag, because the SUB-X1 includes a built-in compartment that stores both the antenna and cable. Other details include a 3.5 mm headphone jack for private listening, an AC adapter for indoor use, built-in bass enhancement technology, an auxiliary input for connecting an iPod, MP3 player, or other audio device, and a docking adapter that works with ST and SV series Sirius satellite tuners. The boombox, which measures 19.18 by 8.81 by 8 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 7.3 pounds (without batteries), is backed by a one-year warranty. What's in the Box SUB-X1 universal boombox, AC adapter with 6-foot cord, satellite antenna with 19.5- foot cable, plastic docking adapter, user's manual. |

| I was looking for a boom box for around $100 that would sound good and be portable. All I wanted was something to hook my mp3 to with good sound. This has beat my expectations. I don't have a satellite radio, I love this, it has the best sound for $100 that you can find. I don't mind not having a clock, or whatever on it, I just bought for sound. I love it!!! You don't need the adjustments for treble/bass, this is perfect. It sounds beautiful!! |
Great sound from this boombox

| I was amazed at the sound this boombox delivers. I think that the amount of bass is just right on it and doesn't drown out the mids and highs. I usually put this in the corner of my living room and listen to it and it sounds much larger than it actually is. I also take this to my office and use it as well (plus I receive compliments on the stations I listen to.. Blues). My only suggestion would be to add features to where a person could tinker with the sound. Otherwise, I give this a two thumbs up. |

I am a satellite radio junky. i have not listened to regular radio in 3 years and have no desire to go back. the problem that i have had with satellite radio is setup and signal. I've had two car units that never got a signal in my car. i had a home unit that ran extremely hot and took quite a bit of time to finally find the right spot in my home.
The boombox is a godsend. i bought it and was a little nervous about setting it up. i was hoping not to be disappointed. setup was a breeze and when i slid my stratus 4 receiver in, i was good to go. sound. crisp clean sound. this is the best sound that i heard from any of my receivers. it's really not the receiver its the fact that the boombox doesnt rely on a FM frequency.
I don't know all the technical specs but i gotta tell you the sound is incredible. the bass is phenominal. this little boombox definitely packs a massive punch. the sound will have your friends thinking you paid a lot more for it. From pictures i was thinking it was a big hunk of plastic but it's actually quite small. the black and silver color of the box can fit it any room against any decor. the handle looks a little blocky in pictures but is actually quite comfortable. it is really portable and would be great to take to the beach or if do construction a work site. since satellite is a relatively new concept some boxes or receivers are the first models and don't really push the envelope in terms of design or technology. however this box which was one of the first made for sirius is excellent in terms of design. its a quality product and would be hard to improve upon without sacrifice adding size, bulk, and weight. it's extremely light weight. some reviews suggest its 7 pounds w/o batteries (11 with) but i don't feel it. i'm a big strong guy but its hard to believe its that heavy. i think a little kid would have no troubles lifting it.
The downside is pretty consistent on other reviews. the box does not come with a remote control. however you can find a remote control out there for maybe $10 at the most. you can adjust the volume but you can't adjust the bass or anything else. the box has about 3 or 4 buttons total. so far the bass has been just right but i havent played it at high levels so i don't know how it will be affected if you blast it.
I love sirius even with my previous struggles i continued to buy receivers. i listen at work and at home and any time in between. If you are looking to join the satellite revolution start with a receiver and a boombox. easy setup, less frustrating, more enjoyment. if you can avoid having to rely on the fm frequency you will not be disappointed by your satellite experience. I definitely recommend this product. |
You won't be sorry!!!

| I bought the SUB X-1 boombox for my wife for Christmas so she could play her Sirius Sportster 5 radio in the house. Although this boombox does not have any treble or bass adjustments, you really don't need them. The sound is rich and clear, with little or no distortion. I would buy this product again, and I would recommend it to anyone. |
